The Princeton Center for Language Study’s core mission is to enhance the teaching and learning of languages at Princeton—a goal that involves faculty, students, and administrators.
For lecturers, PCLS provides opportunities for ongoing professional development and support. These include:
- talks, workshops, and roundtable discussions
- theory reading groups
- funding for classroom research
- travel funding for national and international conferences
- summer fellowships to support teaching tool development
For students, PCLS provides
- ongoing professional training for graduate student TAs who teach language course sections
- proficiency testing in less commonly taught languages that are not offered as Princeton courses
For language program directors and department administrators, PCLS
- serves as a liaison between deans and language teaching faculty
- provides a venue for discussions relating to University policies on language courses and requirements
